Our new home in Perugia!

Ciao a tutti!
We've all settled in to our new home for the next three weeks in the heart of the historic and beautiful hill town of Perugia. This morning we left Rome, once again in the stunning sunshine, and took the train north - well, two trains actually as we had to change in Foligno. Arriving in Perugia we hopped straight into waiting taxis for a careening ride up the hill, before Maria Rosa arrived to let us in to our new abode. The next adventure of course was getting the luggage up the 90 steps to the apartments on the top floor, but of course the view makes it all worth it. Once this happened, and some recovery time passed, we headed out for a little walk around the centre so that the girls could see just how close we are to everything. A quick visit for basic supplies took place at the small local supermarket, before we returned to the apartments for more settling in.

At dinner we returned to one of the last group's favourite restaurants, the Luna Bar Ferrari just off Corso Vannucci. While we all enjoyed our delicious food, a couple at the next table started chatting. David and Doone were teachers from Melbourne and thought our group was having an amazing experience being here - in fact, Doone had studied here forty-five years ago at the Università per Stranieri and had wanted to return. They embodied the life-long love of learning that TMC encourages in its students, and hopefully their tales have inspired our girls.

One last passeggiata to admire the twinkling lights rounded off our tiring day - and everyone will need to be sparkly and awake tomorrow as the university adventure really begins.
